A paper bag making machine is a significant investment for any business. It’s important to make sure you’re taking the necessary steps to maintain and care for your machine so that it lasts as long as possible. In this blog post, we will discuss some daily maintenance tips that will help keep your machine running smoothly!
Daily Maintenance
1. Clean
- Clean the paper bag making machine regularly using a soft cloth and mild detergent.
- Make sure all parts are free of debris and dust and keep the paper bag making machines from excessive grease, glue, etc.
- All coated parts, guides, forming plates, rollers, rollers, and fold-in knives must be cleaned of glue prior to shifting changeover.
- The water in the air compressor storage tank and oil-water separator must be drained before shift changeover to ensure the quality of the air supply.

2. Check
- Check the paper bag machine daily if there are loose handwheels or parts, including safety covers, belts, pipelines, screws, etc.
- Check the paper bag machine if there is any exposed, broken, or loose electrical wiring
- Check the tension of all chains and belts regularly every week
- Check regularly for excessive wear on bushings, shaft cores, and gears, and replace them if necessary
- Keep an eye out for any abnormal sounds when operating

3. Lubricate
Lubricate moving parts as needed. About 90% of the bearings in the paper bag making machine are in anti-friction form. Please check all lubrication points before starting the machine to avoid failure of the machine. And then lubricate all lubrication points of each shaft core. Other lubrication will depend on the running speed of the machine and the length of bags you will produce every day. Proper lubrication will ensure the best performance and longer useful life of the parts.

The following materials used for lubrication are for your reference
- Air compressor oil No. 68 is used for the air compressor.
- Gear oil No. 460 is used for the gearbox.
- Grease No.2 is used for bearing lubrication.
- Gear oil No.150 is used for other rotating parts.
Paper bag machine main parts inspection and maintenance methods
1. Motor
- Check the insulation resistance of each motor with a megohmmeter, and the insulation resistance should reach above 0.5 megohms.
- Check if the motor rotates smoothly, if the bearing gap is too large, and if there is an abnormal sound.
- Check if the oil level of the gearbox reaches the normal requirement.

2. Transmission mechanism
- Check the bearing status of the main drive shaft.
- Check if the clearance between knife rollers is too large (0.5mm) and if the bearings are intact.
- Check if the cam mechanism is normal.

3. Transmission gear
- Remove the debris and paper dust from the gear bite.
- Check the gear tooth surface and its occlusion status.
- Check if there is any major damage on the tooth surface.
- Check if there is any cracking on the tooth surface.

4. Check the bearing part of the guide roller
- Grip the shaft end of the guide roller by hand and check it by force in the forward and backward direction to make sure there is no loosening, if there is loosening, the guide roller should be disassembled to replace the bearing.
- Grip the guide roller by hand and check it by force in the left and right direction to confirm if there is axial movement, if there is loosening, it is confirmed that it is bearing clearance or guide roller axial positioning loosening.
- Turn the guide roller by hand to confirm if the guide roller rotates smoothly and if there is an abnormal sound.

5. Electrical part
- Check if the electric indicator of each button switch is normal.
- Check if the buttons and AC contactor contacts are in good condition and if the galvanic corrosion is serious.
- Clean the dust of the electrical components in the inverter and control cabinet with a hairdryer and chicken feather duster.

6. Pneumatic control circuit
- Check the pressure before and after the air, if the pressure difference exceeds kg / c, you need to clean or replace the filter element.
- Check with the naked eye if each hose is bent, and replace it if it is bent.
- Check if the cylinder, solenoid valve, and reversing valve are working normally and there is no air leakage.
- Adjustment of regulator pressure.
- Inlet regulator pressure shall not exceed 7kg/c m2.
- Other regulators are adjusted at 3-4kg/c m2o

Care and Storage
- Store the paper bag making machine in a dry, cool place when not in use
- Protect the paper bag machine from extreme temperatures or direct sunlight
- Keep all sharp objects away from the machine
By following these simple tips, you can extend the life of your paper bag making machine and keep it running smoothly for years to come! Thanks for reading!
